Celebrating Culinary Style on Kauai’s South Shore
The Kauai South Shore Food Tour is offered every Wednesday from 1:15-5pm and provides six stops to tantalize your taste buds – all while celebrating the delicious street food inspired by Hawaii’s diverse cultures.
To give you an idea of what to expect, you’ll get to experience Japanese food, street tacos, sample tropical gelato, learn about the foods considered staples in Hawaii, meet and greet farmers and food artisans, along with some other surprises along the way.
Kauai’s premiere gourmet market – Kauai Culinary Market – is the final stop of the tour. This market treats guests to a cooking demonstration. There, you’ll get to meet the local chefs and interact with them. Learn about their favorite recipes, what inspires them, and how their love for food began.
After your taste buds have been treated and the tour is over, you can unwind with “pau hana” live Hawaiian music, outdoor beer, and wine gardens. Visitors can also shop for Kauaiinspired gifts at a variety of unique shops, art galleries, and boutiques nearby at The Shops at Kukuiula.
Items available to purchase and bring home include handcrafted products such as tropical fruits, honey, fresh-baked breads, pies, jams, soups, and much more.
Marta Lane, founder of Tasting Kauai, is the founder of this tour and the others taking place around each side of the island. Marta is a Kauai-based food and farm writer and author of “Tasting Kauai 2015: An Insider’s Guide to Eating Well on the Garden Island.”
